Ahoy, cruisers! It’s the big cruise day, and I’ve got the lowdown on what to expect.
First things first, you won’t be able to get in your cabin until after 1pm, so we recommend checking your luggage before getting on the ship. Your luggage won’t be making a grand entrance until after 3pm, so bring a handy carry-on with all your essentials. I’m a backpack person, but a tote bag or a compact roller bag works too. No size or weight rules here!
Once your bags are off your hands, it’s check-in time. Grab your government ID – passports are ideal, but for most U.S. closed circle cruises, your original birth certificate and driver’s license will do. If you’re under 15, no need for ID, just bring along that birth certificate.
Don’t forget your set sail pass – find it in your Royal Caribbean app. Smile for the camera, because the crew will snap a pic for your seapass card, which you’ll snag when your room is ready.
Metal detectors are up next. We did not have to take anything out of our bags, just had to make sure pockets were empty. Easy peasy – except for Dad, who had to ditch the belt.
And now, it’s time to board that boat and kick off your cruise vacation!
